Lesley McWhinnie and Cissie Cunningham have reached the West of Scotland District Pairs Final on 29th June at Shotts B. C. (2.00pm). Congratulations to both on reaching this stage and please try to get along to lend your support on the day!
Unfortunately, Stuart Boyd lost out in his SBA Junior Singles district final to his opponent from Carluke BC 21-13. It was a tremendous achievement for Stuart to reach this stage and hopefully, next year, he’ll go one better! Similarly, Liz Anderson and Lesley McWhinnie lost out in their SWBA Pairs district at Law BC. Again, both ladies deserve enormous credit for reaching the final!
On the positive side, Kirsty Ann Gardiner has reached the Scottish finals at Northfield where she will compete in the Junior Singles. Congratulations to Kirsty!!!! Her first match is scheduled for Saturday 1st August at 12pm. Watch this space for further arrangements and news of her progress!
On Saturday 6th June, our club held the annual Murray Trophy competition. This 2 bowl pairs competition is very popular indeed and a full compliment of 28 teams took part. The weather stayed mostly dry and fairly mild. The qualifiers from the 4 sections were:
Derek Houston and Jim Houston
Stuart Boyd and Neil Gilfillan
Drew Stevenson and Elaine Renwick
Kevin Moore and Michelle Johnston
Stuart and Neil defeated Derek and Jim, whilst Kevin and Michelle won a measure in the last end against Drew and Elaine to secure their place in the final.
In a hotly contested final played over 7 ends, Stuart and Neil managed to secure the victory and their status as Murray Trophy Champions 2009. They have played together for 7 years in the Murray Trophy and this is the first time they have lifted the trophy. Congratulations to Stuart and Neil!
Stuart Boyd reached the final of the SBA Junior Singles having defeated his opponent from Wrangholm Hall BC 21-13 on Friday evening. Stuart will now play his opponent from Carluke BC at Law on Friday 12th June at 6.30pm. Please try to get along to support Stuart in his quest to reach Northfield this year. Good luck Stuart!
Liz Anderson & Lesley McWhinnie won their semi final on Sunday 31st May which takes them to the SWBA district Finals at Law Bowling Club. They have had some great games and had a
comfortable win on Sunday with a final score of 28-13.
As previously reported Kirsty-Ann Gardiner is also competing in the SWBA Junior Singles Final. The Juniors Singles final is at 11.00 a.m and the pairs is at 2.00 p.m on Saturday 13th June. Well done to Kirsty, Liz and Lesley for reaching this stage. We hope they can make it to Northfield!
The penultimate night of the Motherwell & Wishaw District Burgh League was held at our green on Wednesday evening (4th June). It was a bright and mild evening and we managed to achieve a much-needed 6 points. The winning rinks were:

Drew Stevenson, Bill Anderson, Derek Houston, Ian Gillespie.
Joe Aitken, David Anderson Snr, John Paton, Stuart Boyd.
Our final game is at home to Newarthill on Wednesday 10th June at 6.30pm.
Unfortunately David Anderson Jnr lost to his opponent from Castlehill BC in the quarter finals of the SBA singles. On the brighter side, Stuart Boyd defeated his opponent from Law BC in the SBA Junior Singles quarter finals and will now play in the semi finals on Friday 5th June. Best of luck Stuart!
Unfortunately our LBA pairs, Scott Johnston and Kenny McFarlane Jnr, lost in their quarter final tie against their opponents Bellshill & Mossend BC.

The third night of the Motherwell & Wishaw District Burgh League was held at Wishaw South BC on Tuesday evening (26th May). It was a bright but chilly evening however we managed to get 4 points. The winning rinks were:
