Motherwell Miners Welfare Bowling Club

The first gents finals day will take place at 2pm on Saturday 4th September.  Due to the position of the social club, this day will take a similar format to closing day.  There will be a presentation to the new honorary members, the finals will take place, a buffet will be served (£2 per person) and the night will be rounded off by a karoake.  Please try to get along at some point in the day to support our club.

The 5th match in the Lanarkshire Leagues took place on Friday 6th August. The results were as follows:

Please note that the John Gilmour Trophy scheduled for Saturday 7th August has now been postponed due to a lack of interest for this date.  The decision to reschedule or cancel until next year has still to be taken.

The Past Presidents trophy scheduled for Sunday 29th August has now been moved forward a day to Saturday 28th August with a 10am start.  Please check that your team is available for this revised date.

The 5-man team event will take place on Sunday 12th September at 10am.  A notice will be on the locker room board very soon.

A mixed rinks competition will take place on Saturday 17th July at 2pm for all ladies & gents members.  If you wish to participate, please append your name to the entry sheets on display in the locker room.  Note that an exact format has still to be decided however every player will receive a free drink and a buffet will be provided.  Following the completion of the tournament, a karoake will be held in the bowlers lounge for all players, family and friends.

Our gents Junior Singles (S. Boyd) and Senior Gents (J. Thomson, T. Lindsay, B. Hands, W. Anderson) have reached their respective SBA district finals.  These finals will be held at Motherwell BC on Friday 11th June 2010 from 6.30pm onwards.  It would be great if the players had a large Miners support to cheer them on in their quest to reach Northfield!

A karoake will be held in the bowlers lounge on Saturday evening (22nd May) at 7.30pm.  All members and friends are welcome so please try to get along and support our first social evening of the bowling season.

David Anderson Snr begins his quest for glory in the Champion of Champions tournament this Sunday evening (9th May) at Wishaw BC.  His tie will start at 6.30pm and he will be playing an opponent from Stonehouse BC.  What better way is there to spend your Sunday evening by going along to lend your support to David!  All the best David!

Result:  Unfortunately David lost tonight to his opponent from Stonehouse by a score of 21-13. 

The penultimate mens quiz night of the winter season will take place in the bowling lounge on Friday 5th February (this Friday!) at 7.30pm.  Cost per person is £2.00 and you will be treated to a quiz by Kenny and Mark McFarlane.  At half-time, pies will be served in case you missed your dinner!!

Please try to get along and support one of the best evenings in the winter programme especially as it is the penultimate event of the close season!!!
