On the downside, the pairs of Stuart Thomson and Jim McNaught lost and Mark McFarlane lost a very close match in the Junior Singles. On the bright side, David Anderson won his singles match and the triples of Keith Hird, Kenny McFarlane Jnr and Tom Lindsay won through to the 2nd round. Best of luck to those competing this week!

The umbrella on Monday night was a very close affair and two teams shared the highest margin of victory with 8 shots. They also won the same number of ends, so it was decided to split the winnings. The two teams were:-
Ian Gillespie, David Gilfillan and Daniel Gibbons
Paul Martin, Frank Menzies, Jackie Barrie and Ross Anderson.
Well done to all seven guys!!!

Race Night: Saturday 25th June 2005

Monday, June 20th, 2005 by Kenny

A race night is being held in the Bowlers Lounge on Saturday 25th June at 7.30pm with tickets priced at £1, available from all members of the committee or on the night. These nights are great fun and are not serious in the slightest when it comes to picking a horse/camel/pig/greyhound (you don’t need to have any prior knowledge!). Basically, you pick a number for a horse without knowing how good/bad it is, then watch the race…it is a lottery really! Please try to come along to this event (including all your friends) and support our bowling club.

Invitation Triples: Sunday 19th June 2005

Monday, June 20th, 2005 by Kenny

Our annual invitation triples took place on Sunday 19th June, with 8 sections of 5/6 teams each. The weather remained very stuffy until early evening, when the sun really came out. The competition was played in a very good sporting manner and everyone at Motherwell Miners has to thank all our sponsors again for their continued and generous support. The winning triples team was from Motherwell Miners and consisted of:-
Derek Houston, Michael Soares and Ian Milne.
Congratulations to these guys and hopefully, everyone who took part, enjoyed their day, even, if like me, the bowling wasn’t so good!!!!
