Tuesday, June 27th, 2006 by Kenny

Congratulations should go to Kieran Kane and Vicki Neill for winning through to the final of the SYBA Pairs final to be played in Grangemouth in August. Here’s hoping they can go one step further and be crowned champions.

Good luck to Kieran and Vicki.

MW&D Burgh Results

Tuesday, June 27th, 2006 by Kenny

On a very wet Wednesday (21st June) evening, the Burgh competitions kicked off. There was a mixed bag of results with the singles (D.Anderson (2)), pairs (B.Hands/M.Renwick), triples (J.Paton, D.Anderson (1), R.Walker) all winning through to their next rounds. Unfortunately, the rink and Junior Singles (M.McFarlane) lost out.

Best of luck to the remaining competitors in their next rounds.

Lanarkshire League Results - Friday 23rd June 2006

Friday, June 23rd, 2006 by Kenny

The Lanarkshire leagues began on Friday 23rd June with 1 of our divisions playing away from home and 3 divisions at home. The weather stayed in our favour and an extremely successful and memorable night occurred for our 3 divisions playing at home. Have a look at the results below to see for yourself:

Division 1: Dalserf (away) = 0 points
Division 7: Caldercraig (home) = 6 points
Division 17: Airdrie (home) = 6 points
Division 21: Gartsherrie (home) = 6 points

Unfortunately, Division 1 were edged out in tight matches at Dalserf, however, I am sure this will change next week.

As for the other 3 divisions, then it is quite remarkable that every rink (9 in total) won their respective games. A FANTASTIC ACHIEVEMENT!!!

Friday 30th June
Division 1: Low Waters (home)
Division 7: Orbiston (home)
Division 17: Caldercraig (away)
Division 21: Strathaven (away)

Karoake - Saturday 1st July

Friday, June 23rd, 2006 by Kenny

Please note that there will be a karoake/quiz/bingo/disco social evening held in the bowling lounge on Saturday 1st July, beginning at 7.30pm. Our numbers have slowly dwindled away to around the regular 30-40 people in attendance, from the 80-90 that attended in the beginning of these evenings. The committee would like to request that as many members and friends attend this evening as possible, as the profits go to helping keeping bowling fees at a minimum and to improve the club as a whole, plus each night is always memorable for one reason or another. Please come along and enjoy our refurbished facilities and maybe, you could participate in singing a song from our list of around 2000 titles!!

Invitation Triples - Sunday 18th June

Friday, June 23rd, 2006 by Kenny

We held our annual Invitation Triples competition on Sunday 18th June, with approximately 40 teams competing. Although the weather was not in our favour, everyone seemed to enjoy their day and it did brighten up for the final, which was eventually won by a triples team from Motherwell Bowling Club, that included our former member Peter Smellie. Thank you to all our sponsors and invited players for making this day possible and congratulations to the winners from Motherwell BC.

Tuesday 6th June - Law (away)

Tuesday, June 6th, 2006 by Kenny

Unfortunately, on a warm, sunny evening, we did not manage to obtain any points at Law Bowling Club. As our opponents secured all 8 points, it means that Law are the Motherwell and Wishaw Burgh League Division 1 Champions 2006, so congratulations to Law!
