Grand Prize Raffle

A raffle is being held within the bowling club over the next week with prizes including:

  • Hospitality for 2 people at Fir Park (Motherwell FC) for a game next season
  • 2 Taylor Bowling Bags
  • 4 cinema tickets
  • Spirits
  • Chocolates
  • + more to be announced

Raffle tickets cost £1 per strip and can be obtained from Kenny McFarlane Jnr or any of the committee.  The raffle is open to all members, visitors and friends. 

The draw will take place after the Ryder Cup tournament on Saturday 28th June.

LBA Top 6

Our LBA Top 6 team are through to the 2nd round after a walkover against Bellshill/Mossend on Thursday 19th June.  The next round is away from home on Thursday 26th June.

MW&D Burgh Results

Unfortunately on Wednesday 18th June, all of our teams competing in the Burgh competition were knocked out at the first stage.  Hopefully, we’ll have better luck next year!!

Invitation Triples

On Sunday 15th June, we held our annual invitation triples.  The weather was favourable to us and the winners were Mark Renwick + his two team-mates from Fife.  They defeated a team from Forth in the final.  Congratulations to Mark and his team!!!

As an aside, Bobby Watson, Teddy Kane & Kieran Kane grannied Kenny McFarlane Jnr, Kenny McFarlane Snr and Tam Kerr 7-0!!! (Told you, I post it on the website!!!)

Championship & Presidents 2nd Round End Date

Newsletter and Calendar

For season 2008, we’ve decided to trial an electronic newsletter that will keep you fully up-to-date with Motherwell Miners Bowling Club. This newsletter will be sent via e-mail to your inbox on a regular basis (probably monthly) and shall include news items, results, social/bowling events, monthly calendar, general information etc.

If you wish to sign up to our newsletter then please click the “Newsletter” option on the right hand side of this page. Note that you will be able to unsubscribe at any time, although hopefully, you won’t!!!

In addition, we would like to point out that our “Calendar” option on the right hand side menu will be kept up-to-date throughout the season and this provides a valuable source for your diary!!!

Club Pairs and John Gilmour Rescheduled

Millennium Singles - Sunday 8th June

The first round of the Millennium Singles took place on Sunday 8th June at our green.  We managed to defeat our opponents 3-2, with the winning singles players being:

Mark Renwick, Ian Gillespie and Ian Allan.

Congratulations and Well Done!!!

Murray Trophy

At sun-drenched Motherwell Miners BC on Saturday 7th June, the annual Murray Trophy competition was held.  28 teams were competing to be crowned champions and it was a closely fought tournament.  The results were:

This is Daniel’s first year in our club and we’d like to congratulate both him and his grandson on their success.  Both played extremely well throughout the day and never lost a match…..worthy winners!!!

SBA Semi-Finals

On Friday 6th June, club champion Mark Renwick and David Kelvin were competing in the semi-finals of the SBA singles and Junior Singles respectively.  Unfortunately, Mark and David both lost 21-13 to their opponents from Houldsworth, however, both can be proud of their achievements.  Well done guys in reaching this stage!
