The 1st match in the Lanarkshire Leagues took place on Friday 25th June. The results were as follows:

Division 2: Law (home) - 2 points
Division 7: Caldercraig (home) - 2 points
Division 17: Burnbank (away) - 4 points
Division 19: Greengairs (away) - 2 points

Our gents LBA top 6 team managed to defeat their opponent s from Mount Vernon BC on Thursday 24th June 2010. Our singles won 21-12, triples won 19-7, however, our pairs were defeated. Congratulations to the guys on winning the first match!

Our inaugural match in the Bellshill league took place on Tuesday 22^nd June against our opponents from Newarthill BC.  The Bellshill league sees 3 gents rinks and 2 ladies rinks represent our club on each matchday.  The result from Tuesday evening ended up being; 1 win, 1 loss for the ladies, and for the gents; 1 win, 1 loss and 1 draw.  So across the board, the match was tied.

The Lanarkshire Leagues begin on Friday 25th June, therefore, if you are available to play in the leagues,  please add your name to the sheet in the locker room.

Our Millennium singles team (W. Findlay (2), D.Houston, S.Boyd, I.Gillespie, K.McFarlane Jnr) lost out in their quarter final match at home against Orbiston BC on Sunday 20th June.  The match was very tight indeed with the final score being 3-2 in favour of Orbiston.

Our Millennium singles team (W. Findlay (2), C.Fox, S.Boyd, I.Gillespie, K.McFarlane Jnr) travelled to Chryston BC on Sunday 13^th June and recorded another victory.  This victory was even more remarkable as both Willie Findlay and Charlie Fox stepped in at the last moment and played fantastically well.  Willie won 21-14 and Charlie was at 17-17 when the Miners obtained the required 3 wins!  Our quarter-final match is at home on Sunday 20^th June with a 2pm start.

Congratulations to Liz Anderson and Lesley McWhinnie who reached the Scottish Finals at Northfield this year, after they won their SBA district pairs final at Colville Park.  Having lost out in the final last year, Liz and Lesley went one step further and didn’t even have to play their last 2 ends!  Congratulations to you both.

Our final match of the Burgh League campaign saw us travel to Beltane BC on a windy but dry evening.  On the night, we realised that 4 points would seal the league title and 3 points would bring it down to shots difference.  All 4 matches were extremely tight and the end result saw us leaving with 3 points, but with a positive shots difference on the evening. 

Due to Holytown’s 8 points against Burnhead on the previous evening, this meant that 3 teams finished level on points at the top of the league - ourselves, Beltane and Holytown.  Prior to last night’s match, we had the upperhand on Beltane BC on shots difference, therefore we finish above Beltane.  However, as Holytown’s exact scores are unknown to us at this present time, it is still in the balance as to whether we win the league title or not.  On the positive side, prior to the final set of matches, our shots difference stood at +88 and Holytown’s at -4.  We shall hopefully find out the official standings in the next few days, therefore keep your eye on this website for the final result.

21 pairs took part in our annual Murray Trophy competition on Saturday 5th June which proved to be a real summer’s day!  Everyone who played thoroughly enjoyed the tournament and the eventual winners were Willie Findlay (1) and Fred Kellet.  The runners up were Derek and Laurie Houston.

Our Millennium singles team (I. Allan, I. Gillespie, P. Gardner, S. Boyd, K. McFarlane Jnr) managed to defeat Airdrie Central BC in the second round on Sunday 6th June.  Our next opponenets are Chryston BC (away) and the match shall take place on Sunday at 2pm.
